Lucretia moved to Houston in 1911 with her husband Manuel, an artist and art history professor, and their thirteen children. Lucretia began to purchase land and small houses throughout the Houston area. She then established Mendiola Real Estate in 1921.

During the 20s, 30s and 40s, she continued to purchase land, small houses and buildings for rent. Upon his return from World War II through the 60s, Joseph, the youngest of the 13 children, began to build and sell homes to returning veterans.

TICI Corporate Summary

During the 1950s and 60s, Texas International Consultants, Incorporated (TICI) grew its business under several subsidiaries, including Mendiola Properties, the most prominent of the divisions.

In the 60s and 70s, the business continued to expand with Pamela taking an active role in buying, leasing and managing rental properties up until the death of Joseph. She also started to acquire other non-real estate businesses, which she operated through the late 90s. In 1978, TICI became the parent company for all of the subsidiaries and holdings.

History & Timeline

1911

  • Lucretia Mendiola, matriarch of the family, started buying land to the north and south of downtown Houston.

1921-1946

  • Mendiola Properties is formed.
  • Mendiola continues to buy land.
  • She buys small homes and commercial buildings to rent.

1946-1965

  • Joseph Mendiola returns home from WWII and begins building spec homes on the family-owned land.
  • Pamela becomes actively involved in all of the businesses.
  • Construction, design, mortgage and insurance companies are founded.
  • Custom homes are built in the Houston, Friendswood, Pearland, Laporte and Seabrook areas.
  • Small commercial properties are constructed for clients.

1965-1990

  • Pamela Mendiola takes a leadership role, changing the direction of the company and forming Mendiola Investments.
  • She sells the home building, design, construction, insurance and mortgage businesses and invests in additional income properties.
  • Pamela buys undervalued property and local service businesses and sells for a profit.
  • She incorporates Mendiola Investments and adds daughter Helen to the board.

1990-2003

  • The property management company is officially formed and staffed to manage assets.
  • Texas International Consultants, Incorporated (TICI) is formed.

2003

  • Helen becomes acting CEO, and continuing to buy and manage income-producing assets and subsidiary businesses, while also continuing her commercial real estate consulting practice with a special emphasis on healthcare real estate.
  • In 2010, Helen becomes President and CEO and divests businesses and income-producing assets in four cities and two states.

2011

  • In the spring of 2011, Helen and her husband Jay change the direction of Texas International from a holding company to a third party advisory and consulting business, a concept more representative of their career of over three decades of commercial & healthcare real estate.

2012

  • Stealth Realty Advisors, LLC is formed to handle the acquisition and disposition of property and Capital Market assignments.
  • The TICI Group of Companies is formed.

2019

  • Helen utilizes decades of strategic industry contacts to facilitate transactions on behalf of clients, forming Strategic Alliance Partners & Advisors.
  • Personal investment company, H2B Quantum Holdings, LLC, and Rosemary Homes, LLC, a company for buying, renovating and selling homes, are formed.

2020

  • With the added strategic alliance relationships, the TICI Group of Companies now has over 22 Partners and Advisors in 16 States and continues to grow.
  • Due to the growth, Helen hired an experienced healthcare real estate professional to head up the newly formed Capital Markets Healthcare Group.
  • Jim Coman officially joins TICI and establishes another Stealth Realty Advisors office in Charleston, SC. Jim is licensed in Texas, Georgia, North & South Carolina.

2021

  • Marks our centennial anniversary.
  • Derrick D. Bracks, MBA  joins Steatlh Realty Advisors, LLC as the National Director of Business Development – Healthcare and  Life Sciences

2022

  • A new corporate logo was designed to emphasize and align the company’s future growth
  • Hanzen Laporte retained as corporate counsel and advisor

2023

  • Addition of research analyst
  • Launching of expanded website.
  • PR Boutique retained as public relations firm & advisor
  • Sarah Finney promoted to Director of Operations
  • Derrick D Bracks, MBA promoted to Managing Director of Capital Markets, Healthcare & Life Science

2024

  • Expanded our Strategic Alliance Coverage with four new Strategic Alliance Partners across four new states, making 37 alliance partners in 21 states.
